Landscapes
“For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is His also. The sea is His, and He made it: and His hands formed the dry land.”
Psalms 95 : 3 - 5 KJV
If there is any one genre of photography I have taken more than any other, it would be landscapes. It's not that it takes priority over other opportunities, but I do find myself gravitating towards those shots more than the rest. And I'm not the only one, as they seem to be one of the most popular. When visiting places where you might find pictures hanging on the wall, whether it be an office or some business, it's likely to be a form of landscape photography.
For me, this passage from Psalms is so relevant because when I am photographing a scenic locale, I find myself humbled with the fact that everything before me (and in me as well as around me) is Created by My Loving Lord God, and belongs to Him. There are places of the deep, places of the greatest heights, and everywhere in between - that defy my comprehension of how God Put that all there. I can't help but wonder what it was like when Jesus walked this Earth and looked upon His Handiwork; those quiet moments that He Reflected upon the wonders that He, along With The Father and Holy Spirit, put into it's place - and sadly, knowing full well the harm that humanity would bring to it...
